Frequently Asked Questions

How to clean the fountains?

You can use a light dish soap or a 50/50 water/vinegar solution to clean our fountains. Please never use harsh chemicals like bleach when cleaning a pet fountain.

Is it safe to put the fountain in the dishwasher?

Only the stainless steel lid for the Catit Stainless Steel Flower Fountain, Pixi Smart Fountain, and Pixi Stainless Steel Fountain are dishwasher safe. The remaining parts of our fountains and the Catit Stainless Steel (Non Flower) Fountain are unfortunately not dishwasher safe.

How frequently should I refresh the water in the fountain?

We recommend refilling the water as needed and refreshing the water weekly. This can be done at the same time as the fountain cleaning.

How frequently should I change filter?

We recommend replacing the filter once a month.

We also recommend rinsing the filter weekly (not replacing it) to remove any hair or debris.

Why is there insufficient water flow in my fountain?

If there is debris or slime in the well area, the magnetic impeller cannot make a connection to the motor unit and will prevent it from spinning. If you have not done so, please remove the impeller from the motor and rinse it off. Clean out inside the motor with a small brush or Q-Tip, then rinse out the motor unit as well. Place the impeller back in the motor and plug it in briefly to ensure the impeller is spinning before re-assembling the unit.
